A Glimpse of Tove Jansson 1988
"The Sweetness and Curse of Success"
Overview
Tove Jansson became world-famous for her Moomin characters, but over time she began to dislike the commercialization of Moomin and lost the desire to write about him. Here she talks about how fame affected her and how the book Moominland Midwinter (1957) became a turning point, thanks in large part to the support of her life partner Tuulikki PietilΓ€, who suggested that Moomin be set in a new world β something that helped Jansson find the joy of writing again.
