Overview

Mat works at a turtle slaughterhouse and discovers a tiny book of magical spells that he believes will transform his life. He quits the job and begins a journey of exploring the world of magic with the book. All his plans go awry when a group of pirates forcibly recruits him as a cook and he is made to take part in robbing a village and kidnapping the village chief and his daughter, Mariam.
